Scientific name
Syzygium australe

Eastern Australia
Status
Australian native

A very popular native available in many cultivars, grown as hedges, screens and feature trees. Also called Brush Cherry and many other names thanks to its range of forms. Produces attractive small flowers and edible berries. Can be prone to pimple-gall psyllid, so cultivar choice matters.

Living with it

This is an Australian native and usually worth keeping where it has the room. Good pruning to Australian Standard AS 4373 keeps it healthy and safe. If it has outgrown its spot, we can reduce, lift or remove it properly.
